1) nobody knows what sustainability really means.
that’s not true according to the National Commission on environmental and Development. According to them you need to worries about the present and not the future.
is the future really the present?
2) sustainability is all about the environment.
This myth is about humans making chemicals that is killing are oceans, rivers, and agriculture. Paul Hawken says that that the future would not be able to meet their needs.
how can we change this but have the same result?
3) “Sustainable” is a Synonym for “green”
The term green usually suggest that a person chooses from artificial to natural. Its harder to see sustainable powers then any other powers, alternative energy source has always been a problem for environmentalist because of the problem of restoring active waste. Also nuclear reactors are a great source of energy, a lot of people have become nuclear boosters.
how can you be a nuclear booster?
4) Its all about recycling.
Recycling is a powerful massage in the environment, t came in the 70′s. Recycling takes a good role in every body’s liefs we all do it. We do it so plastic, wood , and other materials wont just be tossed out in the world and making it dirty.
DO we need more recycling factories?
5) Sustainability is too expensive.
Sustainability is too expensive because if you already have a car or a house that is not green then your going to have to pay money to change that. DuPont is a company that has reduce bills for people to change green. Now the pentagon is going to reduce their use of materials to help the earth.
Would the goverment help those people that cant afford to change or buy envirroment efficient car?
6)Sustainability means lowering our standard of living.
What this really means is that we have to do more with less. This will be a great start in the main topic of sustainable living.
What is do we have to do to do more for less?
7)Consumer choices and grass roots activism, not government intervention, offer the fastest, most efficient routes to sustainability.
popular grassroots actions are helpful and ultimately necessary. CO2 emissions, can can only happen quickly if central authorities commit of making it happend. Putting a per-ton tax on carbon emission would be widely unpopular, but it would for the firat time account for the real cost of unsustainable energy use.
8)New technology is always the answer.
Not necessarily, Barack Obama made the tactical mistake of pointing out that proper tire inflation could save Americans millions of dollars, republicans pretty much made fun of him, but he is right its a proven fact. Shi Agassi president of wants to electrify the world’s car fleet he doesn’t want a cars to last 200 miles then have to charge them again he just wants to cut down on carbon emissions.
9)Sustainability is ultimately a population problem.
This is not true. Its a false solution, most every environmental problem is a population problem. Population experts agree that the way to limit populations is to educate a women and raise the standard of living generally in developing countries. As we all know that will only happen In a perfect world but in the real world it wouldn’t be possible because we are not ready to put a dent in the population.
if we ar not ready then what is there to do?
10)Once you understand the concept, living sustainably is a breeze to figure out.
A choice that seems sustainable turns out to be problematic. best current example is to produce ethanol for fuel from corn. What people don’t realize is that we are going o use a lot of corn feels for fuel and not to eat so food prize is going to go up. The process would release carbon monoxide into the atmosphere.
What other resorce can we use to help with the subtitution of gas?
